Hi there 👋🏼 I'm Hye-Min Kim, a Korean-American ceramicist, product designer from the SF Bay Area.
In 2020, I quit my recruiting job, got married right before the pandemic, and moved out to the Midwest so that my husband could start medical school. That Fall, I decided to take a ceramics class for something to do during the pandemic and the rest is history!
I draw inspiration from my Korean heritage to create modern, one-of-a-kind ceramics. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques and seek to honor how we are sustained by our everyday rituals, from drinking coffee to serving banchan to loved ones. Check out my Smile Politely interview to learn more about my art inspiration and creative process.
You can witness my ceramics livin' their best lives at Ishi (sushi omakase by reservation only in Champaign, IL), Ladro Enoteca (wine bar in Downtown Champaign, IL), and Nanoom Dining (private, Corean fine dining experience in Los Angeles, CA). You can also purchase some of my pieces at Maum and browse other Korean-founded brands from LA and around the world.
Follow me on Instagram (@ohmkdesign / @ohmkims) for any upcoming drops and market updates, and feel free to contact me regarding any inquiries (commissions are currently closed until further notice).
Thank you for your support and I hope my ceramics bring you as much joy as they did for me throughout their creation process!
